Ken Price (1935-2012) was an American ceramic artist and printmaker. He has become best known for his colorful and biomorphic abstract shapes constructed from fired clay, however his drawings and works on paper can be considered some of his most insightful work. The ideas for the shapes that become Ken Price sculptures begin with drawings. Price was a dynamic force in the Los Angeles close-knit community of surfer artists of the 1960’s. He is included in most every major American museum collection nationwide and countless international collections.
