Sush Machida (b. 1973) was born in Maebashi City, Japan. Machida fuses Eastern and Western traditions–the woodcuts of Edo-period Japanese masters and America-style Pop elements. The vibrant colors and immaculately finished surfaces of stylized portraits, including rolling waves, clouds, whales, fish and birds ultimately create formal compositions that address nature, culture and a sense of order. The artist received his MFA from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2002.
The artist currently lives and works in Las Vegas, Nevada.
